A Christmas Greeting

This is a hand-copied and embellished (by me) reproduction of the graphic design on one of my favorite seasonal coffee mugs. It is the work of Sandra Boynton. She is a creative genius with a twisted sense of humor. Click on the image for a larger view.

If you have a hard time making sense of this, try plunking out the notes on a piano while singing the words and see if that helps.

I love it! Reminds me of all my mis-pronunciations as a child. For years I swore that the Silent Night went like this... "Round young virgin," instead of "Round yon Virgin Mother." Man, did I get laughed at.

That's funny.

How about the boy who drew a nativity scene at school (back when public schools allowed such things). He brought it home, and his mother said, "That's really nice. I see Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, the shepherds, and the animals. But who's this little fat guy over in the corner?" The boy replied, "That's Round John Virgin."
