I just got my copy of Doug Giles’ new book in the mail today. I have already read all nine endorsements, the Table of Contents, the Foreward by Pat Caddell, the author’s Preface, and the introduction titled, "The Give a Flip Factor." And I have just finished chapter 1.
The book title is “Raising Righteous & Rowdy Girls.” There are fourteen chapters (140 pages) and I will probably read the whole thing tonight.
But I didn’t buy it for me. My two daughters are married with children. I have eight grandchildren and three of them are beautiful little girls. I bought this book to share with my sons-in-law. They are gonna need it.
In his introduction, Doug Giles states that, in this book are:
“…scores of road-tested, historically proven, can’t miss principles for raising girls with a fighting spirit, discernment, a winning attitude, and a holy vision to overcome this feces filled culture.”
“You will learn in the following finger-burning pages how to teach your daughters to fight, shoot guns, sense BS, be classy, despise anti-intellectualism, be visionaries, party without going Britney, to value hunting and the outdoors, the importance of traditional convictions, and how to avoid the date from hell.”
Doug’s writing style in this book is crude, rude, and socially unacceptable. It is also biblically based, to the point, from the hip, short and sweet and attitude laden.
It’s the same kind of writing that nearly got me kicked off the deacon board when I blogged this about some of my observations in contemporary churches (by the way, I don't go to that church anymore). But heck, our daughters' (and granddaughters') lives are at stake. Most of their mothers don’t get it and politeness and PC sensitivity isn’t going to get the attention of their fathers.
Doug Giles is the creator and host of ClashRadio.com (IRN/USA Radio Network). In addition, Doug is a popular columnist on Townhall.com, minister, artist, campus lecturer and author. His articles have also appeared on several other print and online news sources, including The Washington Times, New York Times, BigGovernment.com, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Examiner, NRA News, American Hunter and ABC News, and he has been a guest on both major television news programs and nationally syndicated radio shows across the nation. Doug and his wife have two daughters: Hannah Giles who devastated ACORN with her undercover videos and Regis Giles, a NRA columnist and 2nd Amendment activist.
