Any study of major commentaries will show that this is written in a covenantal context, and that what is meant by "love" and "hate" really carries the connotation of "chose" and "rejected." If you disagree I would recommend Douglas Moo's very convincing argument in the NICNT Series Romans Commentary.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6612070267385431010.post-78036963068535528782008-09-19T11:19:00.000-07:002008-09-19T11:19:00.000-07:00(whining voice)....Buuuut, Mr. Petersen, thaaat do...(whining voice)....Buuuut, Mr. Petersen, thaaat doesn't give me warm fuzzies.Daisyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15315109355687283907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6612070267385431010.post-41912675061794399002008-09-19T07:28:00.000-07:002008-09-19T07:28:00.000-07:00“God hates the sin but He loves the sinner.”This p...“God hates the sin but He loves the sinner.”

This phrase is so overused. I think most people think it is a Bible verse.

There are about three dozen verses in the Bible that speak about God's hatred. Only about one third of them refer to His hatred for actions (sin). Two thirds of those verses refer to His hatred for those (people) who sin.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6612070267385431010.post-11294636387218333902008-09-19T02:52:00.000-07:002008-09-19T02:52:00.000-07:00Oddly enough, I suspect most people who hate the w...Oddly enough, I suspect most people who hate the word "hate" also hate the use of "sarcasm".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6612070267385431010.post-18349330245925296002008-09-18T23:19:00.000-07:002008-09-18T23:19:00.000-07:00So many of those who want to speak only love and o...So many of those who want to speak only love and other "positive" things have no problem with HATING THE TRUTH.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
